Isn't the whole idea of 'gift of equity' to sell to a family member or someone close in relationship, and isn't an LLC created to protect your personal identity, therefore negating the ability to prove the familial status?

This is what I've done and it has worked well.In one case, I had 3 apartments, so I estimated the square footage of each apartment (in cases where all the units are identical, then it's even easier - no trying to figure out percentages).

If this guy is a scammer, I worry that the "approval application" you filled out might have asked you for sensitive personal info (SSN, DOB, etc.) that could be used to commit identity theft or credit card fraud.
