We have contractors who handle all repairs as well as an interior decorator for furnishing if needed.

Decorating the home takes a lot of care if you want to maintain the antique character. 

Remember if you are putting decorations on your balcony to make sure they are fire-resistant..." or "It's time for your annual apartment inspection, inspections will be from 10am - ..." ) as well as various input fields to track repairs, complaints, birthdays of tenants, etc. 

I don't generally provide shower rods; tenants may get their own tension rods to match their chosen decor.

This would entail completely furnishing and decorating it, which will add up front cost.

Here is our current plan:Purchase at minimum a furnished 4br townhouse with splash pool in a gated resort with amenities - purchase price around $330-$390kWe would put about 10-15k into setting it up for STR, theming the rooms (my wife is an interior decorator and already has a plan)/automating the property for remote management/adjusting furnishing if needed etc.We plan to self manage remotely with a little help locally. 

And as you probably know, in any of the markets you can do way better than others if your photos, decor, features, and reviews are standout.

Yeah, well, a few feces decorated units later, a body or two, acting an idiot to tenants happy to bash ones skull in later, that ego tends to turn into significant regret.
