Though I would think you would need a controlled enviorment Temp , Humidity , etc; Just curious 

The honest thing would be to move utilities immediately but the seller refused us a walk through (he just said I can walk out of the deal if I want but he has no time for a walkthrough) and I figure why - excessive humidity in the basement which he cleaned up quite well at the original showings.

It can also grow in rooms that have high humidity as well, above 60%, very common in attics and closets filled full of clutter in the basement. 

Or you can install a humidity sensing switch like this one. 

Sometimes up to a week if there is high humidity, low temperature, or poor air flow.And as mentioned earlier, the end product may not align with expectations in a higher-end property, but will be great for at least a B property.

My main interests are for low cost insulators, in potentially hot and humid environments.

KC is a humid area with a decent amount of rain. 

The latter is typical for high humidity/moisture basements. 

How hot/cold or humid/dry, etc. 

@Eric FungI’m in the south so ceilings fans are a must in humid summers.
