Very likely (unless your situation is truly an unusual one) you can achieve whatever liability protection / coverage that you need through standard liability insurance and umbrella coverage (if really necessary), but then you couldn't pretend to be a player, so of course that would never do. :) Sorry for the obvious sarcasm, but the fact remains, you really don't need one because if you are like most folks you can achieve what you need to through other much more efficient means.

If you held it for less than a year, it will still be taxed at ordinary income rates (short term capital gains really just means ordinary income rates).The fact that it was in a single-member LLC does not really matter; it will be taxed as if it was in your name because the federal government disregards single-member LLCs (pretends they don't exist).
