An electric space heater is fine for warming your feet when you're on the couch, but they get very expensive to run when you're talking about heating an entire room or section of a home.

When STRs first started you could literally rent a couch overnight to guests and actually make money but those days are long gone.

It's like being there in person without leaving your couch.

Their customers are STILL calling me because they can't get in their own unit, statements are incorrect, they are being charged insane amounts for lightbulbs (energy upgrade) that were not replaced and were told were included in their commission rates, fee structure changes to guests (in Vacasa's favor of course), squatters in units because they refuse to use door locks that provide adequate security measures, missing couches (because said door locks aren't changed even when they loose 15+ people in 6 months out of one office), broken furniture unreported, under sell the market to keep calendars booked, and on and on. 

@Valerie Couch  I would be interested in learning about this as well.  

I am not saying that you are going to have to live on the couch (while you could) but you might have to take the least appealing room, and live with 4-5 other people.House Hacking is the ultimate start to your REI journey (wonder why everyone suggests it) you just have to figure out which flavor you want to choose! 

I am currently couch surfing and figured if I am going to live anywhere, I should have my rent covered!
