Before making any decisions, I'd pick up a copy of 'Total Money Makeover' from the library (or post on Facebook and see if you can borrow it from someone.)

And if money is tight to start, go to the library.  

I'm not sure about the Columbia REIA, but the Augusta one meets at 7:00 PM at the Columbia County Library on the second Thursday of each month.
