The surround suburbs/cities of Detroit, Closely bordering the City have some great opportunity and tend to be easier to manage.

Mass ave and the Highway are the western borders where properties are pretty expensive.  

We are obviously very spoiled with the gain we have built up in this property, we were very lucky, at the right place at the right time, gambled spending a lot of savings to make this happen and have put a lot of physical sweat equity in over the 4 years.

I think I'd be able to put in a hot tub bordering the enclosed outdoor shower, plus there is a working fireplace.

I just don't understand the buyer mentality.I helped my Mom buy and fix up her first rental over the last couple months.  2 bed, 2 bath condo in the area of Havana and Alameda (technically Denver but borders Aurora).  

It is not my job to guard the border and obviously not the job of the United States government either!

Area of Newark is border line central ward/south ward.

The pics are from years ago when the property was actually nice and livable.Unfortunately without someone who knows the city areas well, it's a huge gamble to invest in Detroit.

I live in work in Chicago right now and the property taxes are 15.5 (or maybe that's .155) but across the border in IN, like this property, they're only 3.5 (again, maybe I should be saying .035).

You can always gamble that you won't get caught, but if you do, the penalties & interest charges can be substantial.
