Aside from cash flow (and getting other folks interesting in investing) it seems to me that their biggest problem is thin-slicing: ie, knowing enough about the business and the market to size up a situation and have the confidence to follow-through on a gut reaction.

No matter how you slice it, over time and over a large number of rentals, the expenses will be in the 45% to 50% range (assuming that you're managing the property properly).

If its incomplete, it will be a much harder sell, and you'll get less.Its an awful rental, no matter how you slice it.

Very competitive, which makes it tough for you to find enough of a deal for you to take a slice out of and still have it be interesting for buyers.I don't really consider that investing, either.

Just knowing RE then is only a slice of that slice.It's going to be critical knowing the new requirements as you could end up buying a note that was illegally originated and it could end up being worthless.
