A few months ago around Christmas time we were doing a bathroom remodel for a new homeowner on a house that was flipped, the master bathroom was a disaster, there isn't enough space to go into all the things wrong, so I'll just tell you about the bathtub - jetted tub they bought from Home Depot, so it was a de-engineered Jacuzzi model, low horsepower pump, less jets than the non Home Depot version, but it looked new and shiney. 1) Tub wasn't sitting on the sub-floor, was suspended by it's rim, even it they had built the tub deck correctly to size based on everything else I sure they wouldn't have poured a mortar base for it to sit in.

The problem persisted, so we pressure tested all the lines in the house (found two leaky valves - under 100 PSI - but nothing to explain the increased water consumption). Then we found the cause - a disgruntled tenant (who was moving at the end of his lease) who would come home in the evening and leave the bathtub spigot running for an extended period of time (another tenant ratted him out as they were tired of all our intrusions while looking for the problem).

Then I start pointing out the dripping this and the disgusting that, the funky smell over there and whatever that is in the corner over there and he eventually comes around to my way of thinking. He was convinced that we could just clean the bathtub and tile.
