I'd be interested to know if anyone has attended City Council meetings and argued for protecting STRs. 

I watched restaurant owners crying in front of the city council as they voted to shut down their livelihood.

A colleague of mine just revealed that she has a friend on city council so we are going to see if he can provide any guidance but at this point I'm halfway through the eviction process and may just have to see it all the way through :(

Talked to a resident about the city council meeting about short-term rentals (STRs) in Palm Springs.

I posted this in another AirBNB thread, the City of Jacksonville is looking harder at AirBNB with the new City Council President in office. 

Price Hill has no champion on city council and is invisible to the mayor's office.

Do an online search for a tenant's rights council/advocacy group in your city who can take a closer look at your situation.

The City Council is looking at possibly modifying that, but there's still resistance to the idea from people who think that allowing any short-term rentals will instantly transform Ocean Shores into "Fort Lauderdale at Spring Break". 

Between turnovers, rental season, parents, neighbors, city council, roommate drama, and house parties it is not exactly a lifestyle business.
