Either way you lean politically, we've got at minimum 2 more years of this admin in Washington that doesn't seem to care about border security. 

I would not gamble on that unless you have done this many times & know the potential risks.

I've been very interested in the neighboring markets that border Atlanta.

We do a little in Michigan right accross the border too.

If you are central/east USA, TD bank offers cross border banking, including mortgages. 

We've also found that the closer you can get to the borders of the town the better the neighborhoods - usually.

I've checked rental history and personal references across borders before, so I know that's possible and somewhat helpful, but wouldn't weigh heavily on such. 

That's in East Akron/near South Akron - two the hell holes of Akron, other than Middlebury, Arlington, West Hill, etc.You won't grab anything in Firestone Park for 20k unless it's on the border of South Akron aka not worth it.Since you're an OOS, I'd walk away.Good luck with your search.
