Depending on the cash flow for the property, you are looking at up to 75% of the appraised value. 

You could look at NLV or Henderson depending on where you’re going to school.

If you're a lender, I might have some borrowers for you depending on your U/W requirements.

If I would have known about these earlier I would have bought less personal real estate, but again it depends on your goals of leverage, building wealth, risk, and your overall perception on how to handle your money.      

Depending on what your rate is, you may be able to lower your payment with a refi, even after you move out! 

They can vary dramatically.As others noted, you need to narrow SOMETHING down.  

So it depends on who your target client is.  

Holding is doable but it depends on your financial position, with a refi you'll have costs to do that and your numbers would be different.

As far as price point, this will depend on the market of course, but I am looking around $200k-$450k right now.

Anything from REIT mutual funds to direct ownership (which depending on your definition is "passive" to many, including the IRS), to direct asset syndications and funds.
