I'm just trying to make sense of your comments.I really don't think this generalized comment based on perceptions is very useful.

I've seen many turnkey duplexes on the market with new builders, and have the perception turnkey would be easier but not always yield the best returns.

My perception is that every investor is looking, but just like you, no one is really finding great deals except for the rare diamond in the rough.  

Of course the large businesses hire more locals as staff, but then there's the STR needs like management, cleaning, handymen and all ....So hmmmmm, I wonder if the 'perception' that STRs are small business is correct?

It's about what your perception of what losing the money means.

Perception is reality at that point.

At the risk of disappointing the negative perception of the overly litigious lawyer- I would say this horse is beaten to death.

It's a matter of perception not reality.

If their generalized impression of this community is formulated from watching the Wire or American Me, they will never be able to have an accurate perception of the asset the own.

You need at least a small portfolio or a good presentation in order to 'sway' potential investors into actual lenders. also if you can't persuade family to invest in you, then you need to figure out what you need to change about yourself in order to give them the perception that you are worth investing in.think positive, act positive, and don't give up.
