This much moisture soaking into 30" of snow could lead to some roof issues ... not to mention the creation of ice dams and backing of water under the shingles.

The owners then installed insulation and drywall on the Garage ceiling and allowed rain water to seep down between the porch boards and soak up in the insulation/drywall.
