There is nothing inherently different about the process of working with Section 8 between SFH, small or large multifamily. 

I will likely follow what you outlined above, but won't open my calendar right away to allow time for the permitting process.

If you feel these small issues are a lot to handle, you may want to reconsider whether you want to hold onto this property as an out of state landlord or at least consider hiring a real professional property manager to deal with all of this for you.

You could have hired a PM and been financially and mentally better off.
