What was your first step to being a realtor investor, what mental hurdle did you overcome to finally take the plunge and purchase that first home?

I'd be interested in hearing more about the project and could share any potential hurdles based on my experience in LA (architect & investor). 

Also the fact that your property is vacant currently and for renovation is another hurdle for some banks and insurances.But continue to search and you’ll find some.That is one of the reason that my companies have multiple bank accounts with many local credit union to build a relationship with them as they are more encline to help me with these exotic loans.

The biggest mental hurdle I faced when entering the STR space was that I did not want to deal with the headaches associated with managing an Airbnb and maintaining a 5-star rating.

I have helped a few people so far (Uk and Canada), non-citizens and have learned that the issue is not really the TK provider - at least not when it comes to the investment.The issues foreigners are facing are mainly in the area of financing (to take full advantage of the leverage and currently low-interest rates), corporate structure, as well as some TK provider behavior.On the financing and corporate structure, I was able to develop relationships I make available to my mentoring clients so we can overcome these hurdles, even though it takes some time and effort.On the TK behavior, it is harder because we all don't have much influence.

This space is filled with many hurdles both seen and unforeseen and the ability to think neutrally can be vital. 

While I'm primarily curious about this for Austin, Texas and this "strategy" will undoubtedly vary city by city, and most likely only be considered for more suburban properties, allow me to wonder:Have you successfully financed a profitable well on any of your properties, what were the details, the savings and any hurdles you encountered throughout the process?
