I know it’s a pain, but periodic property checks can help mitigate this kinda thing.

So far, It's showing a$175,000 3-bed, 1-bath, 1,659 sq ft and 3,920 sq ft (lot) on a street that's only 4 blocks west of my block.

If you give any credence to this type of response, you're in for a long painful real estate investing experience. 

Can vary from block to block. if it’s a full rehab might not be a bad deal as rentals are hard to find.  

So, the off-season is where to build the building blocks for when you retire.
