I have an unconventional schedule as a nurse (working 2-3 12 hour shifts per week). 

My mother lives in the Philippines so I have to visit every now and then.

My mother is from Brooklyn but my father is from Bridgeport, Chicago (Southside- go Sox!)

.- if you can get a long term person in, ie: someone looking for a temporary place because they are moving or doing travel nursing etc, you will make more money, and save a lot of time doing clean up/turn over.- provide toiletries, menus from local restaurants for take out, some snacks etc.- place must be very clean

I come from a family of construction workers and have a nice set of skills for fixing up houses, as well as a mother who was in the land development business when I was a child.

My mother is retired, and my father still works (but would likely want to retire in the next few years, so cash flow w/ new rentals would be my recommendation vs. paying off the mortgage if that's an option).

@Nick Rutkowski I am thinking about doing it before I go back to formal college, to probably become a nurse.

Would you be able to earn more money through other investments with the extra money you'd have to spend on a mother in law unit?

If I were you I’d be telling everyone and their mother that I’m an agent.
