@Christopher Mooney - I house-hack a 2 Unit Building in Bayridge Brooklyn which is a 45 minute subway ride to Manhattan Wall Street Financial District (a 7 mile drive).

This approach will help minimize the potential financial risks associated with renovations and working with contractors.

It has 5 years left of fixed debt remaining, which makes me feel okay about it.

My end goal is to have financial freedom in 10 years or less by bringing in $10k/month.

I'm new here so may not have a full view but the overall climate seems to be-anything to make a deal-ridiculous financing, leverage the home you life in-who cares where it is located it will be easy to rent/manage from hours away-don't be gracious with your tenants and housekeepersMy guess is a tilt toward young and not financially stable which is awesome if remaining sensible. 

Right now my debt is sitting at around 154k (8k outstanding interest payments). 

How often will you see financials?

I've already had to turn multiple people away after running their credit reports, so I can already see that it's not going to be financially feasible for me to be covering the fees myself.

They appear to be financial planners.

And it definitely CAN lead us to financial freedom.
