Sorry, I don't see a company that makes hard money loans by taking in funds from private individual any different.But again, as Bill points out, these terms aren't trademarked and their usage isn't regulated by the SEC or any banking organization.

Great topic, John.Jon Holdman perhaps you should trademark "expensive doo-dad" It sticks with me, too.I don't look at "expensive doo-dad" as a bad thing.

However, you cannot use the word "Realtor" as it is trademarked by the National Association of Realtors and they will sue your ***.

I never knew this phrase was trademarked @Larry Flanagan. 

We've done a lot of LO's since '09 and it's evolved into a process we trademarked Bridge to Own.  

You pay more for a more prominent location so everyone in the market place see's your office, your sign, your name & your trade mark.

We recently applied for a trademark and shortly after it was filed received very official documents with our trademark and trademark images saying they required an additional $7500 to complete....hand signed.
