Cold call or drop-by on property managers, real estate brokerages, large investment companies, title companies, local lenders and ask what kind of help they might need at their office.If you like to be on social platforms you could probably get a job creating content for one of the above.I would put more weight on experience gained from the job than pay. 

PROS: invest in an area with a higher rent to home price ratio to maximize profitability CONS: No FHA loan as the creditor would know that it's not my primary (higher DP), greater expense associated with upkeep as I would need to fly and pay for lodging to work on property4.

to me this becomes a very personal choice where you have to weight your Options.IE your own personal financial situation .. 

A good civil engineer is hard to find, and can be worth their weight in gold.

Also what specific expenses are needed to calculate regular upkeep for property? 

My guess is that the two lollies were not leveled properly, and the weight of the 2nd floor shifted, causing increased pressure on other joists and a new set of problems over time. 

A solid PM is worth their weight in gold, and myself, owning investments remotely for 17+ years, I have some real horror stories to share.

@Matt Buroni that’s were I am originally from, so I have many friends and family who can help with the upkeep of the place.

No real screening requirements and no park upkeep.
