If they nailed it down, I can see a lot of ripped up boards and too much time spent on this project.Can you have the tops refinished?

Would it be a good idea to look at Craig's list and refinish cabinets I can buy on the cheap?

I am also going to refinish the hardwoods before I live there.  

We expect we will need to re-finish the entire basement, all new paint and flooring throughout, update kitchen and baths.
