I recently talked to a local insurance agent that has been assisting some of the out of town buyers with insurance policies and the majority of them have purchased these properties sight unseen without any knowledge of the neighborhood they're in, school district, condition of the home itself apart from the pictures with fresh paint and new countertop or even seeing the homes surrounding it that have been condemned by the city. 

I'm gonna offer a different perspective than what's been noted just so you see another option.What if you sold your primary and parlayed that into a 4 family in Boston?

DaveFrom a credit damage perspective, once they have missed a payment (31 days late), it shows up on their record and after the 3rd missed payment their credit is shot.

From a lending perspective we can certainly help and make some recommendations on contractors in the area.

From a single family buying perspective, my only experience has been buying a new home 6 months ago, selling our current home, and talking with people I know.
