Especially in oak hardwood floors (the most common) that were originally finished with wax, cat urine will eat through the wax and react with the tannins in the floor to create a dark spot.

I believe in a free market, but if the government does not believe in a free market, the government should be the one paying the associated costs.I believe the reason for rent control is not because the politicians believe it results in positive long term benefits but because the mass of constituents who are reacting to sometimes large rent increases believe it is a good thing.
