Think about it, anyone who wants to sit through some lead paint classes and pay the $100 filing fee can get a GC license.

I know this is between you and family but just so you and others know, that state actually has licensing requirements for private money lenders.

One of the exemptions would be having a valid breeder's license in the city. 

To me a license doesn't prove one is qualified for a job.However, having a CPA or EA license allows the individual to represent you before the IRS in the event you get audited.

My point is this- just because there's an issue (as there always will be) does not mean someone is not fit to landlord.Haven't read through all of the comments yet, but in the market where I invest, Wilmington, Delaware, there is actually a city ordinance that if you do not live in New Castle County, you're required to have a registered and licensed property manager with the city. 

Dishonesty that you can prove could result in fines from both places or even a license suspension.
