I live in a small town in New Mexico and have experience doing a couple of BRRRRs.

Bounded on the west by ocean, south by Mexico, North by Pendleton, and East quickly gets harsh. 

What Amazon currently offers paywise to their white collar workers fits in with salaries in this area already.If it was just cheap labor they needed, they could outsource to Mexico or India.
