Does anyone have a similar experience of living in the heart of a city but choosing to mostly invest in the urban sprawl outside?

I’d love to hear any advice or personal experiences from others who have been in a similar position.

Common utilities paid by the landlord will be similar if not the same; standard services (extermination, changing filters, snow removal, fire safety inspections etc.) will cost the same.Expenses will vary depending on the market.

Going through the Zoom call though, it seems extremely similar to OwnerRez. 

Both had similar purchase prices (house was a bit less) and now would sell for similar prices though the house might sell for a bit more.Buying rentals now (that last example was bought ~10 years ago house and condo a month apart), I'd go for a single family home.

Similar to what the other posters have stated, you will want a strong track record and unless you know absolutely what you're doing, you should not take money from family or friends. 

Utilize a 1031 Exchange: Under IRS Code Section 1031, you can defer capital gains taxes by reinvesting the proceeds from the sale into a similar “like-kind” property.

In other words, I expect low, if any, appreciation over the next few years.A similar investment in the S&P 500 would have yielded a 25% return if sold today.
