Could be.I think that for most individual American investors leverage is a critical tool. 

A lot depends on an individuals motivation, dedication, learning capacity, decision making capacity, analytical ability, time available, support system, mental state, and yes, luck. 

Value is based on each individual and they will need to determine if they think there is any value.
