Fix the faucet, plumbing at my parents house, volunteer for habitat for humanity and learn all I can about construction.

They basically give property away in this area and you might be able to donate it to Habitat for Humanity and use it as a tax write-off on your taxes.

You can check with one of the Habitat for Humanity warehouses for inexpensive cabinets and maybe appliances.
