By year '11 I am graduated, and will work full time - winter, and then I will embark on my own journey, with a stable amount of money to my name.

Remember that persistence and clear communication are essential for anyone embarking on a similar journey. 

Make sure that when you embark a project there is a detailed scope of work document and a contract so that you and the contractor fully understand the project. 9/10 issues can be avoided when the scope of work and expectations are clear to everyone.
