I'm a 22y/o Merchant Mariner who is away from home 8-10 months a year.

I believe I live in a great area to currently invest in Brevard County, however I am unsure of my buying power while I am in school.Without further ado my current situation, as noted above I am 31 years old and currently going to school full time, however I spent over 9 years in the Marines so my college is paid for and I am receiving a housing stipend, this money is however not considered useable income for a mortgage.

Hello BP, I am in the Marines, currently deployed in the Middle East, based out of Camp Pendleton, CA (San Diego) but have my "state of legal residence" of Florida. 

I have about 13 months left and I am putting over $1000 a month away between my IRA, reserves, and bank roll for a down payment when I get out of the Marine Corps next June. 

I am a full time mariner by trade and the experience I have in real estate has come from finding and renting my apartment, so not too much!

Currently in the Marine Corps.

I've yet to buy my first property either because I am still in the Marine Corps and saving up until I'm out next summer.
