If not, I suggest waiting until you do.If you use up all of your equity on your current home, rent it, and then need a new roof or boiler, your attempt at your first door will go sour.

As your first investment, I recommend waiting until you get back to the states.

How long do you wait out a market if there is a decline in rental prices before cutting your losses? 

They could be here legally (visa, whatever) and waiting for their green card.

I have a degree in Project Management and could potentially find a job in another market if it would better support my real estate investing goals.Here are the questions on my mind- Should I keep saving and wait to buy something locally in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Connecticut, where I could manage the property more easily?

I'm sure it's much harder for someone in their 50's or 60's to think how far behind they are because they waited to long or were just scared of all the unknowns.

Do not keep on waiting for the time to buy,  right time is now if deal is good and you have the reserves to buy:)

I redid the roof… it’s multicolored… used up shingles I had laying around… but still a new roof.Trying to decide if I should sell it.
