The current Chicago market is so dry and overpriced it’s ridiculous, mix that with the rising taxes it’s making me think twice about purchasing another property here until our politicians stop robbing us.

You don't want to have expectations of demand that dry up when a recession hits. 

The most common scenario if you don't remedy the situation is that you would have to replace that portion of the roof sooner and that some of the roof decking will have dry rotted from the condensation forming on the underside over time.

We still have plenty of dry powder to put to work and like you are continuing to look for off-market deals, we have a number of LOIs out but as you know the demand for this asset type is growing, pricing is pretty rich and it's often hard to convince owners to sell.  

We opened up the vent, (it's just a couple of screws) & we removed his rotting carcass, sprayed the area with ammonia or whatever (Lysol, I can't quite remember) and the smell went away.

We did interior and exterior remodelling, plumbing and electrical, dry waste and back yard.

Add dry cleaning lockers, e.g.

I only figure this house is abandoned because the exterior is beat up and unkempt and the inside of the home I can see the blinds rotting away.

You still had to pay for the dryers, but people got around that by letting their clothes dry on to of the heating vents in their dorm rooms.The floor RA had a sign on the door to the laundry room on his side of the hall that read, "KEEP THIS DOOR CLOSED.

Money part is very easy, finding deals i see is what gets people, why people say deals are dried up.
