It is heartening to see tenants make their rental their *home*, when they plant pretty flowers in the beds, flower pots on the porches, keep everything tidy and trimmed, put nice seasonal decorations up.  

I know it's a mess and would have to texture it again and paint.

We also require tenants to notify us in a timely manner if they notice any drips, leaks or running toilets.The only thing we have not reined in has been use of the garden hose for watering outside plants.

Although initially thinking it was crazy, her question planted a seed in me.

But, I recently moved back to my home town, and I noticed more homes in my neighborhood are vacant, taxes are high, and the local power plant is planning on shutting down, worrying the locals about raising the taxes even more.  

I'm told it will kill everything in the home, plants,animals and of course foul odors.

I'm not sure if this applies to your area but I have found the manufacturing facilities and nuclear plant have scheduled shut downs for maintenance and often time bring specialized crews in to preform the work.  

If I felt the need to hide it more for a showing, I guess I would get a tall palm plant to put in front of it.

This area is hot right now and the land values are "projected" to continue to skyrocket because we are stealing large corporations from all over the US and planting them here.  

I live in Plant City which is kind of far from the current BP meet up and will be equally as far from a St.
