Ethically I would say to just move on.

I have my experience working with my network and now the ability to bring fulltime work ethic and time dedication to ensuring success.I have been building my business plan with the goal of drumming up private investment or partnering with somebody that has the cash to get started. 

Unfortunately, we learned over time that his work ethic was extremely poor and had to let him go a month into the project.

It is a clear ethical violation that would cost him his license and possible jail time. 

If you are not a slumlord and run an ethical business then that is an extremely minimal risk.1 LLC for each lane of business you are in.
