@Nate Wightman rural Oregon was dependent on timber yes.. and the spotted owl and marbled murilet led to a crash in the market.Bend is an outlier for Oregon... there are a few like Hood river.

@Gina C.I'm not necessarily looking for cheap at all.The apartments are mid range "luxury apartments" so they need to be modern, cool or desirable.The high end marble isn't cost effective and that is why I was considering butcher blocks because tenets have expressed interest in them but they are also really inexpensive.So many great people on the forum have suggested that they are a nightmare to maintain and they get water damaged around sinks so I am probably going to stay away from them.Just looking for a durable material that will last a long time and doesn't break the bank too much.Leaning toward prefab granite at this point.
