Maybe it is because I am not as wealth as you are ;-)Culture certainly is a big component.

We have caravan parks in Australia, not so many mobile homes or RV's here as in America, caravaning is a large part of the Aussie culture....

There is a pretty "western" feel but pretty diverse culturally - concerts, symphony, opera, several threater companies.

And the airport staff in countries with a low GDP growth rate tend to have a bit of an attitude.Could that be a cultural factor that causes countries to decline?

I am also a bit culturally different from most people in the U.S. and can be quite blunt in my statements - I do not want a very emotionally sensitive person on my team.This will be a full-time job because I do a lot of properties - my business is like Wal-Mart's - high volume and low margins.I would really appreciate any thoughts and suggestions, including how much to pay the person, how to structure the compensation, what did I miss in my list of requirements, etc.Thanks for reading and for your advice and guidance on this very critial issue for me.

I even used to write a column called "Culture Matters" which gave businesses tips for working with internationals .

I also think that entitlements are a somewhat embarassing thing in some cultures and it would be shameful to some people to seek them.

It goes along with the new psychology of social media, and goldfish-like attention span of our culture.

Our city is really seeing a revival in local culture and pride.  

Please don't make assumptions about a particular cultural linguistic community; avoid the use of terms such as "these people".
