This means that after making a meal in the kitchen and eating, all dishes need to be cleaned and put back in the proper place.3.

Since I am house hacking,  it is very easy for me to "micromanage" the tenants, e.g. doing dishes, taking out trash, not leaving the place a mess. 

I like 3" better than 4 because it dishes more and carrys solids better with less water BUT not everyone has same opinion,,,namely inspectors that have to approve the install.

As far as clean I think it is a judgement call but timely removal of trash and dishes that don't overflow the sink might be a start.
