Converting to a condo is truly cost prohibitive from many aspects, as far as we've looked into it.  

The most important aspect I have come to understand is that you can't do it alone and you can't take a back seat.

I was wondering if someone can help layout the finer details of how this transaction would occur from the buyer and seller perspectives.

I enjoy rehabbing and improving houses, I just need some motivation to figure out the financial aspects involved.  

You only have to bring aspects of the building that are being altered up to code, not the entire structure.
