In response to "current profession" I am a career restaurant server with some management as well.

I worked my fulltime job and had a fulltime server position in a restaurant and was a part time valet.

I subscribed to a paper list provider  then online data provider with a dedicated server (pre-Internet). 

I don't mind knocking on a door unless you need a process server or something similar.Let me know if I can do it.

Lawyer advised I can't serve them myself of course since I'm plaintiff so just ask any friend or acquaintance to do so, doesn't have to be a licensed process server.

You may be the first.That being said, tucking it in a door, putting it THROUGH a mail slot that is actually cut in the door, or putting it in their newspaper delivery box is more effective than using a mailbox and doesn't break any laws.However, hand delivery is very time consuming and expensive and probably not incrementally that much better than a mailing.

The penalty for non compliance can be as servere as losing the property backing your note, loss of 3 years principal and interest, or anything else a judge decides to punish with.
