I don't remember the exact figure, but what surprised us was how similar their cost came to the stick built home we chose.  

While I am surprised at that, I also think it is the proper way to view real estate.I always go back to my first vacation rental purchase as an example:  In 2005, I bought a beautiful, 2-acre creek-side cabin in Cosby (near Gatlinburg) for $240,000. 

So don’t be surprised whoever you check out if you end up with a citizens policy.  

EDUCATE YOURSELF - yes, it will take time, but will lead to a selection that better meets your expectations & avoids potentially costly surprises!

@Arya Chen Another suggestion is to look in the Events & Meetups section of the forums and attend some in person networking events even if you don't live in the areas you're considering investing, if you attend regular events and let people know what you're looking for - you'll be surprised at the connections you can make and where they can get you! 

If you hear "fast, easy, and requires no money" - don't be surprised if you lose a lot of money.

We had a surprise at the end when we were getting ready to re-rent and had gas leaks in all of the units.
