Has anyone ever installed hardwood over the ceramic tile?

Could a person go in and install a gravel base with field tile to disperse the water enough to aleviate some of the ground saturation?

Built in 1955 and from the looks of it, the people must have wanted to live in a time capsule because everything is very 50's. 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 half baths, formal dining room very spacious kitchen (pink tile though), unfinished basement, ranch style on a 1 acre lot.

Also there were lots of cats and insdie cat damage and we had to clean and coat the tile with outdoor porch enamel to cut the smell.

cyndi,if you buy an "ugly house" you just have to make sure it isn't too "ugly" and thus in need of a large amount of work.if you or a partner can do the work - and manage to spend about 6000 on materials (paint job, rugs, doors, some appliances, ceiling fans, a tile floor, and a few other splurgy/nice items) - then this strategy is definitely doable.qualifier - it's easier said than done to find these deals, because the we buy ugly houses guys buy'em all up!!

But, when your strategy won't work in one area, don't think it's a flawed theory, it may be the wrong timing in the market.So, your buying patterns should be based on market, pricing, timing, and your ability to handle and analyze each of those variables.
