It's best to purchase at the lower price levels but a good deal can work at any level.  I

The entry level segement and the mid level is protected by goverment stimulus money and about 90% are still employed, with a trend to more.

So it depends what your current experience level is and what your long-term goals are.  

A LOT of that is personal what works for your budget and comfort level.  I

Focus on what your comfort level is and not what others are doing.

I’ve also taken a deal I found on my own and after vetting it at a high-level, I involved my agent as a buyer’s agent because I valued the relationship and he had tremendous knowledge to offer.

On a personal level, I would immediately freeze my credit at the 3 different agencies.

You are at a level I wish I was at. 

The lower level is looking like a pretty reasonable situation.
