I do not install soap dishes or shelves in the surround (they are always first to become damaged or loose over time), instead provide an organizer that hangs on the shower arm.

I finished reading the BiggerPockets guide to rental property management and the author said he likes to give his tenants a housewarming gift upon move in.He said a shower curtain, soap, towel, roll of toilet paper, etc...Hi reasoning is that many people don’t have those items on hand when they are finished unloading their moving truck and the first thing they really want to do is take a shower.

You will probably need to do this multiple times, and you will need to soak the deck brush in a bucket filled with dish soap solution and comb it out with a paintbrush comb to remove the tar residue in the brush bristles between cleanings..
