My vision is to not be stuck behind the desks for the majority of my career.

There are properties I wished I kept but needed to sell at the time, (especially in the beginning of my investing career) and vice versa.

You can network with other investors, agents and others in the field at the meeting and hopefully get you started in the right direction.

This post is coming from someone who is not an expert in either field but someone who is looking to become very familiar with the core concepts of note investing before taking the plunge. 

If you are not happy in your current role and/or company, there is no shame in pivoting your career into something that attracts you and positions you for long term growth.

I have several loan originators willing to host a webinar to showcase what options they have available as well as field questions. 

Short, though very knowledgeable, was behind the times on how he fielded the, "How do you get a significant other excited about investing?"

I've been a field superintendent at GCs, and now I work on the product/data team of a construction cost data company.

I am retired and working on career #2.

I agree with your underlying point that it’s an over-saturated field however.
