I've heard a general rule that a tree's roots should have a similar width or pattern as its branches. 

If you keep educating yourself, you will notice patterns in the information that is presented to you. 

I am sure you are not going to do that :-)The pattern I see with career changes is that individuals comming from people jobs usually do best.

When you start getting into Mission Hills, Hillcrest, North Park and such, the density of STRs just isn't as high, and the people buying there not behaving so speculatively on an STR business plan.Note also that running an STR business means exposure to tourism spending patterns - when less people travel, your business is impacted. 

I went to an unreasonable upscale suburban high school and hung out with smart people so a few of my old friends  are now well-paid professionals, some married well, but the pattern is always the same.
