This idea interfered somewhat with my belief in serving our country's military, but real estate investing allowed me to do both at the same time, which has been a huge blessing for me.

Couldn't I negotiate wit the bank too buy their performing note and wholesale it to a note buyer, then the note buyer could work out the mortgage payments to make them more affordable?

I used to be a stomer of theirs as I've witnessed my checking accounts go from Howard through several other banks before ending up at Wells Fargo (WF).

That way if it ever comes back on you (which I doubt it will) you have a corroborating witness.
