To raise money from the private sector I would think you need to bring the deal to some individuals that have money.

I have a boutique marketing firm and I would love to focus in the real estate sector.

The luxury sector has already seen overbuilding and is pulling back which is limiting the prices of move up homes.  

I am a supporter of low income housing in partnership with the private sector.

I fly quite frequently either for work or for leisure.

Last time I did something like this, I road tripped from Vancouver to Tijuana, but back then it was all leisure.

There are numerous ways and strategies to invest in commercial real estate since there are many asset types (office, industrial, multifamily, retail, etc.) in the sector.

As for the 2-4 unit space, I believe this sector will be particularly problematic in the short term.
