You may be allowing municipal law to be broken if someone is running a prohibited business from their house; but most places allow businesses that do not require noxious noise or odor or visiting clients, i.e. an accounting business where the accountant goes to the client, home healthcare billing, etc.

If I were suspicious of foul play and law enforcement showed up, I may let them look at the one guest they were suspicious of, but I would not give them free access to my records any time they wanted.
