I'm an architect and work in the tech department of a giant construction management firm, think 1M sq ft industrial/commercial projects and the only thing I can guess that you are referring to is a 3d laser scan, which is way to cost prohibitive to do for flipping/remodeling.

Working in the tech industry, I was able to save enough money (initially planned to buy a home for myself, but after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad the goal obviously changed) for my first investment.After analyzing the potential markets to invest (Ireland, UK, and Portugal), I came to the conclusion that Portugal was the best choice.

And a prime example is Pittsburgh, coming from a Steel town to a tech town is a major transformation. 

Try and get one that has experienced service techs aswell.

If directly in Cambridge (Harvard, MIT, Tech booming area) or similar "hot" areas and in the prime season any tenant would be hard pressed to find an apartment by owner without the fee.

Most things were fine, except a giant oak tree fell over.  

There are 10 massive construction sites for incoming tech companies on my 7-minute drive to work.
